About the farm
Farm access: Access: from Radenci or Murska Sobota towards Gederovci and at the crossing towards Cankova. There is a waymark which leads you the east side of the lake.
The hundred-year-old Ferencovi farm is located in Prekmurje beside the attractive Ledavsko jezero reservoir.
The Ferencovi family are masters of the traditional Slovene art of braiding straw and cornhusks into intricate and lovely designs, and it is especially interesting for guests to watch and learn this craft. The family play accordions and organize traditional ethnological tourist events for which they have received many national awards such as the “Gift to Grandchildren” award. The farm has a museum of farm machinery and tools. The farm also hosts school activities (learning camps) and other groups and helps arrange and run various programs for them. Among the many good things from the kitchen, you will especially enjoy the cracklings “pogač,” “posolanko,” various corn dishes, and “prekmurska gibanica,” a dessert pastry that won a silver medal last year.
Guests staying at the farm can go fishing or boating. Slovenia's largest castle Tromejnik (the meeting point of three borders) is nearby, and one can also visit mineral water springs. Learn about the forests on the 2.4-kilometer educational trail, or rent a bicycle or tennis equipment at the farm.
