About the farm
The Karst borjač courtyards and homesteads are protected against the bora wind by tall walls. One such homestead is the renovated Petelin-Durcik farm located on the edge of the Pliskovica village, right next to the western national border and along the Karst tourist and wine road.
It is surrounded by vineyards that produce Teran, a characteristic Karst wine. This ruby-red wine has been bringing joy and immeasurable pride to the people of Karst for ages. As a viticultural farm included in the programme for integrated cultivation of grapes and production of wine, it organises wine tastings for its guests, which include Teran, as well as Malvasia, Vitouska (Vitovska grganja) and Teran liqueur; the mentioned beverages can also be purchased at the farm.
Your Karst experience will not be complete without the characteristic Karst cuisine and its delicacies: prosciutto, štruklji rolled dumplings, jota soup, and gnocchi. The hosts are true connoisseurs of tradition and customs, which is why they love presenting their locality to their guests, whom they take on a tour of the Pliska study trail. In order to show their guests the characteristics of the Karstic world, they recommend visiting the Škocjan Caves and the Vilenica Cave, which is considered to be the first Slovenian tourist cave. Guests can rent bicycles at the farm and ride to Štanjel, Komen, Trstelj or Tomaj, where the poet Srečko Kosovel was born.
